Fitness/Health

Finally, my Fitbit is back.

I bought one of these "wonder" trackers in June after my boyfriend bought his Surge Fitbit. He annoyed me so much by talking about how awesome is one so I got my own. I got the Fitbit HR though. I  don't normally wear watches or jewelry but I am trying to get used to it.

It does do pretty impressive things. It tracks my steps, sleep, calories burned, miles walked, and heart rate. The Fitbit learns your heart rate so that it can determine when your sleeping or active. It can be synced through the computer with its charging adapter and it can also sync to cell phones and computers over wireless. The Fitbit also allows you to compete in week or day long challenges against your friends or people you link up with in the app.

In the beginning of October I was playing a field hockey game and my Fitbit started going berzerk. It usually buzzes when I receive a phone call or reach my goal of the day (steps, calories, or miles). But this time it was nonstop buzzing. I had to take the watch off at half time. I cleaned it properly, let it die, and tried to recharge it. The Fitbit said it was fully charged but when I put it on my wrist it would shut off. It also would not sync or keep updated with the correct date and time.

I called Dick's Sporting Goods where I bought the first Fitbit. They directed me to Fitbit helpline. Within 10 minute the Fitbit operator helped get me a new Fitbit free of charge to me and without using my Dick's Sporting Goods insurance plan. The company even allowed me to change the color of my new HR since colors were limited when I bought them. I got plum and small size.

I use it active still and clean it after each gym session or intense workout with a gentile soap, water, and towelette. So far it's working well and functioning like the new product it is.

This is how the product comes packaged. Beautiful right?

Looking for a workout?

Without my 3 hour daily practices or the game days of field hockey, I have been struggling to find out what to do and when to do it. No worries I still work out daily, if I don't I have an over abundance of energy and it's no good for anyone. But for any of you who are having a hard time getting motivated or into the swing of things, hopefully I can help you at and jump start you to any goals.

I usually workout with a few of my teammates, but if we can't all get together I'll go on my own.

The other day my friend and I did an intense workout that had my whole body aching the day after:
  • 30 minutes of individual cardio (I did the stair climber, my friend did the treadmill for 20 minutes, then a lateral motion machine for 10).
Full Body workout:
  • 20 Jumping Lunges
  • 20 High Knees
  • 20 Squats Kicks
  • 20 Plank Leg Lifts
  • 20 Mountain Climbers
  • 10 Sit Up Punches
  • 10 Reverse Crunches
  • 20 Bicycle Crunches
(You do this circuit 3x, 5x, 10x - depending on your fitness level.)
After the circuit I use my Sworkit Lte from the Apple iStore to do a timed ab workout. I'm no personal trainer or expert, but this workout had us sweating, our muscles burning, and us physically exhausted at the end of it.

Sworkit also has full body strengthening workouts that can be done anywhere and without any equipment. If you're struggling in the fitness department, I highly recommend it.
