College

Calling all care packages

Care packages are packages (usually in a nice size box) filled with goodies that the individual receiving the package likes. My church usually always sends its college members one around final exam time. Universities also have companies that are affiliated that offer care packages options that parents can select.

Monday I got a text messaging saying that I had a care package on its way to me. I was beyond excited because I haven't received one yet, while I have been at school (I usually saw my parents for games so they stocked me up when they saw me). Due to schedule conflicts between the mailroom  operating hours and my busy Monday schedule, I wasn't able to get the package Monday. I went this morning before I went to my first class. The package was pretty interesting looking and I should have assumed the box wouldn't fit well in my backpack the way I'd need it to.

This care package is supposed to be final exam themed. Hence the glasses and the two phrases: "be great," and "good luck." Usually during finals week you need both. Carrying it with my into classes, a lot of people asked me, "why do you have a box full of glasses?" Well concerned person, I can see where you think they would be glasses, but inside are goodies waiting for me. Around 2:00 p.m. I was back in my room to change before hitting the gym. I couldn't resist not knowing the unknown so I opened up the box. Inside were tons of snacks to fuel any study sessions I had before me. There was also a really cute "coffee break" themed gift inside that had numerous single cup coffee mixes, hot chocolate packets, and different tea blends. I can't wait to get into some of the goodies. But for now I have contained myself.
The "coffee break" pouch is buried under all of the food. The paper along the side is a wonderful note from my family congratulating me on things I've accomplished so far this semester and wishing me luck for finals.

Scheduling

Well it's that time again where we have to register for classes. I can honestly say for the first time in my years of college the scheduling for classes was both easy and complicated at the same time. This time I only had three courses left to take to complete my undergrad, but I had to take more than on of my graduate classes to be considered a full time student.

I enjoyed not having to decide on this class or that, but it also meant I had limited choices. It was only x, y, and z, and what do you know, there was only on class offered for all three. No big deal. I was a "Senior Athlete" by priority in the database. When I went to submit my courses I was blocked from one that I had to take and the other course required written consent, an appointment, and a department chair override to take (they're highly protective of courses apparently). Joking aside, it's just so that students can't add the class without having the requirements for this particular course.

Overall I got the course I needed, but this time I earned them! This isn't the juiciest stuff college can be about but right now, at Pace, that's what everyone is talking about.
